WASHINGTON — The Obama administration keeps passing over Coloradans to fill its vacant cabinet posts.
Colorado Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia, rumored to be among the top picks for the next Labor Secretary, was passed over Monday for Tom Perez, who heads the Justice Department’s civil rights division.
Former Gov. Bill Ritter, also talked about to lead the Energy Department, lost out on the job to an MIT physicist a few weeks ago.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar was the original Colorado guy in the Obama administration, taking over that job in 2009 after serving Colorado in the U.S. Senate from 2006. He announced he was stepping down earlier this year and his last day at Interior will be in a few weeks.
