What a shock to see former House Minority Leader Sal Pace walk out of an office at the state Capitol on Friday.
The new Pueblo County commissioner had just met with Rep. Cristanta Duran, a member of the Joint Budget Committee. Asked what about, Pace laughed and said, “Making sure Pueblo gets its share.”
Pace, who was in Denver for a Colorado Counties Inc. meeting, said he didn’t go on the House floor to say “hi” because lawmakers were embroiled in a debate on four gun bills. But he still keeps in touch with many of them, including Rep. Frank McNulty, R-Highlands Ranch. Aside from the occasional partisan battle, the two had a good working relationship and loved to kid each other.
In fact, Pace texted McNulty on Lent to remind him about an earlier Spot blog featuring the two men, both Catholic, with ashes on their foreheads. Pace knows McNulty hates the picture.
