Andrew Romanoff is in the building, so are other former lawmakers

Former Sens. Mark Hillman and Nancy Spence and former Rep. Joe Rice were at the Capitol Friday. So where others who once served under the Gold Dome.

Former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff brought his students to see the Capitol on a day when it seemed like a number of former lawmakers also made an appearance.

Romanoff, a Denver Democrat, presided over the House from 2005 until he was term limited in 2009.

Also at the Capitol Friday: former GOP Sens. Mark Hillman of Burlington and Nancy Spence of Centennial, and Rep. Joe Rice of Littleton, who participated in Major General Andy Love’s National Guard leadership program.

“They do a mock committee hearing each year and we were asked to reprise our erstwhile role as legislators,” Hillman said.

And former Reps. Jim Snook, a Republican, and Wes McKinley, a Democrat, helped grill burgers to showcase southeastern Colorado agriculture.
